HOMEWORK: land use in towns worksheet
8L4 - Japan.
It would be a good idea to keep up-to-date with the events happening in Japan at the moment. It is distressing, but real and geographical!! The events realte to the topic covered on tectonics and hazards and the fact we are studying Japan as a successful nation at the moment. Think about how they are dealing witht the disaster.

NATURAL HAZARDS. Very relevant to what is happening around the world currently!! Japan should be watched and studied, but may not be such a good case-study idea just yet as it is still new and we don’t yet have all the facts and figures. Also as an MEDC the damage and handling should not have caused so much stress, however the events were so massive that the implications were out of anyones expectations!! Even a country as prepared as Japan could not have foreseen the problems they would face with a disaster on this scale!
Worth keeping an eye on but not a case study as yet! NZ as an MEDC event may be useful though!
